Default Best resorts for non-skiers

I am planning on going skiing after easter with some non-skiers. They
particularly like walking and I was wondering what the best resorts for them
would be in Europe. The French resorts I have been to seem to have too much
snow around for walking at this time of year.

Can anyone suggest any good ones?

Might they like sledging? There are some great sledge runs around;
I particularly like the look of the ones in the Jungfrau region (I did one
once but still prefer skis!). They're miles long and easily accessible.

There are walks there too, high in the mountains, which they keep (mostly)
open during the ski season. I never tried those in winter though.

If you are pepared to have a compromise why not stay off-resort ?

I have a property in the French Pyrenees which is in a 'normal' village with
plenty of walking, but its about an hour to the slopes (maporama says less,
and indeed I have done it in 50 mins but be safe).
9 of us were there in February and went walking on Siunday and several
skiied Tues, Thurs Fri. (Higher up there was so much snow and wind the
slopes were closed Mon and Wed but the walking from our village was still
available).

Good luck.

Zermatt has loads of footpaths both at town level (without snow in April)
and at altitude (a good pair of walking boots should be sufficient). In
addition, all ski areas are reachable by pedestrians (trains, cablecars
etc.) so it's easy to arrange to meet (e.g. for lunch) on the slopes.
