Default new pole type?

I noticed in the Rybinsk sprints Mikael Oestberg using some very weird
looking poles. They weren't bent in any way i've seen before (such as
the actual grip). It looked like the shaft came out further than the
actual pole, then curved back in. It sort of looked like skiing with a
cane. I watched the clip over and over on the uphill to try and get
some idea-does the shape help you get more power from higher on your
arms, near the elbow? It seemed like that was the idea, but it was
hard to tell. Oestberg is also the only skier on the World Cup i know
of to use the clap-ski system as well (http://

Type=gallery&Data=2679801&format=rss200). Incidentally, Oestberg lost
the heat.

It is not ski pole. It's end piece (curve) on traditional pole

interesting how it is assembled on top of an existing pole-wouldn't it
make sense to practice for at least a few months to get the new muscle
groups in tune with how the pole works? i can't imagine a skate pole
20cm higher

Projected lifetime of innovation: 2 seasons. 1 season for citizen
racers to watch the videos of the curved pole. 1 season for citizen
racers to try it and through it away. I reserve the right to be wrong.
