news Hello, anyone to give suggestions where to live 3.4-10.4.2004 (2 persons), not too expensive Residence Cheval Blanc near the bottom of the village is an apart-hotel complex with quite comfortable modern self catering accommodation at a reasonable price with direct access to the slopes. Montana Apartments across the street is similar but a bit more upmarket. The tourist office (contact via valthorens.com) is very helpful and can find you accommodation to suit any budget. |

They're functional rather than luxurious, but they're OK if you're only using them as a base. I was there with a group holiday (27 of us!! I think there's a picture of us on the wall in the Frog & Roastbeef... orange and purple rugby shirts!) and we used it for sleeping, eating, getting showered and ready for the slopes/pub. |

We arrive in VT early in the afternoon of 28/12 (if all goes to plan...). Does anyone know if there are there any free lifts the kids can mess about on for the afternoon? Thanks, Steve. Yeah there are two or three free lifts for beginners down at the resort. One is a magic carpet thing which is a ruddy nightmare as even seasoned professionals find themselves slipping backwards (I think because they're heavy and it's designed for the little 'uns). The other two are drag lifts and should keep absolute beginners happy for a day or two. |

The main nursery slope. If you find the lesson meeting points it's just to your right. There's a rope lift there that drags you back up to the top of the nursery slope. It's got (well, had! Been a couple of years sine I was there) a kids play/teaching area next to it that's cordoned off. ESF use for teaching toddlers. The bottom of the nursery slope has a shed there. Go past it and you're back onto the main slope that runs right past. It's only a green, but without a lift pass, you'll have a long walk back! LOL! I also recommend the Frog & Roastbeef Pub!! They do a decent burger at lunchtime and is a good place in the evening... oh, kids!... well, go a for a swift one apres ski! LOL! And if you see a picture behind the bar of a load of drunken idiots in orange and purple rugby shirts... that was us!! Wahey!! Enjoy! Schneck |
