Excel straps installation?

I got a new pair of straps called Pro Race that are supposed to
replace the Evoluation Racing straps. But I'm confused about
installing them. They has a much larger loop at the end of the strap
-- unlike the long loop that fits over horizontal pins in the grip.

They also come with a couple pairs of chevron shaped plastic bits with
spikes on the side that seem like some sort of plug. The bits seem
like they might snap apart, but I'm not sure about that.

Any ideas about how to install these?
