March Trip / Resort Opinions please
hey now,
Planning a mid march trip with a buddy of mine (rides, but not often). Done Tahoe and Utah enough that they are off the list. Am considering doing another trip to Big Sky, but looking at alternatives as they seem to be having a tough snow year so far. So if you have been to any of these can you say what you thought was good or bad? Thanks. Grand Targhee Sun Valley Durango(Purgatory) Telluride |

Telluride's got some good snow this year. Plus, that late in the season
it's probably still going to be good 'cause of the elevation. Targhee in late March can get foggy & mushy, but still OK; Targhee is better in mid January when you have a better chance @ powder. I really like Targhee; it's kind of remote, you can check out Jackson and/or Targhee 'cause they have tickets that are good for either mountain, and they opened up some new territory over on Peaked Mt. Telluride has better nightlife; Targhee is, well, remote, w/not much goin' on at night. |

Yeah, been in the 40's since the first week of January in Montana - looking
a lot like April. Probably best to go elsewhere. "Mike M. Miskulin" wrote in message ... hey now, Planning a mid march trip with a buddy of mine (rides, but not often). BC interior is sucking right now too. I'm off to Panorama on the 14th, right now they've got a 40 cm base at the base. Ouch. Condo's all paid for though, no backing out now. Neil |

I'm heading to Nelson in late March for a Baldface cat trip (and also hit Whitewater and Red). I'm obviously hoping they get some big February/March dumps to make up for the low snowfall thus far. Regarding the original question - try Utah. They seem to be doing well this year as usual. Also Tahoe will obviously have plenty of snow left by then. Out in Colorado the best conditions would probably be A-Basin. Vail/Keystone are tough for the spring because the nongroomed runs get so warm during the day and you really can't ski them until after lunch when they thaw out from the cold night. Unless of course you luck into a spring storm...but that goes without saying. |

Na, just look at Fernie, they are desperate!
