Default glide wax, tent for backcountry

Skins are rather a pain to get to stick to wax. There used to be some
skins that didn't use glue, but I doubt if they're still being sold.
Buying any skins narrow enough for the E99 is now a pain.

Bummer with the skins. I rarely need skins, since E99s have a decent
grip uphill. But making the grip work does require stomping one the
uphill - which gets tiring after several miles with a 60 lb backpack.

I guess I can always cut wide skins to fit the narrow waste of the
E99s.

....I wonder if these "gecko" skins will stick to a glide-waxed ski
surface.

The earlier E99 Crowns have a tremendous amount of camber because they
expected them to be used while wearing a heavy pack. Newer ones have
much less camber.

Still, mine 2009 E99s worked way better in terms of grip than all
other skis in my group, if compared skin-less. In situations when
everyone else was wearing skins I was doing just fine skin-less,
except for having to actively "work" on that grip.
