I think, and I could be completely wrong, you get into it just below the Tommeuses chairs, there is a gun barrel which you dip into which gives entry to the Vallee Perdue. I followed my Son and his Instructor down this narrow rock lined 'run' a couple of years ago - I am guessing it is what you are looking for. It pops you out just above La Daille near the end of the Triffolet red run. Clive |

As you go up the La Daille bubble it is in the gully on your right. Get off
the top of the bubble and ski over towards the Tommeuseses chair and pick it up from there. It's pretty obvious when you are there. Rob wrote in message oups.com... Hi Can someone tell me how we find the 'lost valley' (or 'hidden valley') in the Espace Killy? Cheers |

"pete devlin" wrote in message ... In message .com, writes Hi Can someone tell me how we find the 'lost valley' (or 'hidden valley') in the Espace Killy? "Piste perdue" is quite easy to find. From the bottom of the Tommeusses chair lift find the run down to La Daille called "verte". I think it might be a green run :O) To the left as you look down there is a gully. Go into that. You may have to climb or take skis off depending on snow. Don't even try if there's not much, you'll end up walking a long way. -- Generally the run is narrow with hazards, so if you do manage to find it (ask the attendant on Semanmille poma lift if you're not sure) take is v easy going down. Also beware if there is too much snow - if you start at the top of the Piste Perdue you'll have to go through rock 'tunnels'. Some of these are only passable by sitting/lying back on your skis... (or crawling). I remember one of these has a tight rh turn as you exit and you have to stand up quickly as you come out and get a turn in or else you hit the facing rock wall - as this tunnel is one of the longer ones you could be travelling quite fast! ) P. www.craigieburn.co.nz |

It's pretty obvious when you are there. This is indeed one of several entrance points to the "Piste Perdue", which is a narrow gorge running down the valley to la Daille. (It's worth noting that the "Vallée Perdue" itself also contains the Triffolet piste, so is not really very lost. ) The 'classic' route would start just above (and skiers left of) the bottom of the Tommeuses chair. Personally, I usually prefer to track left from the top of the chair, dropping down further round the bowl, then tracking into the valley from there. As others have pointed out, different snow levels can make for an interesting route down, or into, the gorge, sometimes requiring a crawl through, sometimes over, various natural features which may be full of snow. I like to take intermediate groups down it, as it's not usually very difficult, but can give them a great sense of adventure and achievement. -- Ace (brucedotrogers a.t rochedotcom) Ski Club of Great Britain - http://www.skiclub.co.uk All opinions expressed are personal and in no way represent those of the Ski Club. |
