Default Summer skiing in Colorado question

Just found out I have a convention to be at in Colorado next July. Does A-Basin
have skiing conditions at that time? Not expecting much, but anything that is
skiable would be fun that time of year.

Otherwise, any suggestions as to what mountain fun can be found then?

The Basin tries to stay open until July 4th. It's usually hit or miss.
This year, they made it to about June 10th but it was a low snow year. Even
if they are open, it's only a trail or two up top. That time of year, there
is still usually hikeable skiing at St. Mary's, some chutes on Mt. Evans,
Independance Pass and Peak 10 in Breck.

Your best bet is to not even bother with the skiing and look into going
rafting on the Arkansas.

If conditions cooperate, there can be skiable snow on Loveland Pass or Trail ridge
Road, both of which offer almost drive to access -- you gotta walk a bit. I've
skied, in marginal conditions, in snow fields above Breckenridge in July. You've
gotta work for your tracks and there is no guarantee a particular place will have
snow, or that you'll be able to get to the snow.

If you can't ski you can bike, pedal or power.

Good luck.

There's skiing in Colorado at that time...you just have to get to the
top yourself. Got skins?

You don't need skins on a hiking trail. Usually I drive up since I'm lazy.
It does get pretty sketchy in September but there are are always a few
places where you can find snow. I usually hit the top of Mt Bross when
there's nothing better. Even in September you can make about 10 to 15 good
turns.
