Default Homewood Alpine interconnect?

I heard a rumor that Homewood has put in a permit to connect to Alpine
through the back side and have the resorts interconnect.

Anybody know more about this? Lal?

No spotted owls in the way?

That's supposedly what stopped the Snow Summit - Bear Mt interconnect.

If they just cut down all the trees killed by the pine bark beetle and
the drought they would have most of the necessary clearing completed.

Was he looking for "connect" info or "contact info"
I'd like to interconnect with SPD the way Dickless Henry claims to.
Must be afraid he will kill some spotted owls if he fesses up. Or
perhaps the SPD officer he refers to is just about as likely to read
this ******** as a spotted owl.
Delighted to write another funny for ya, Dickless.

Not close - miles apart, so I really doubt it. Maybe you saw reference
to the bus service?

From the Alpine website:
"Alpine Meadows/Homewood Interconnect
Weekends and Holidays Only.
Homewood By appointment Sherwood By appointment
Call (530) 525-xxxx "

Alpine/Homewood are owned by the same company, which is now focused on a
real estate development permits at Homewood, (which seems likely to be
approved, strange for Tahoe area.)

Alpine/Squaw interconnect is easily doable - half the required chairlift
is in place, KT22 to the White Wolf area. Lacking is the will, and
territorial ****ing contests between the three players: Squaw, Alpine,
and the people who own the land between. FWIW I hope they fail to
interconnect - nothing to be gained, much to lose.

* *I doubt it, because the Northern Spotted Owl nesting was old growth
forest and dead old growth trees, while the California Spotted Owl isn't
as picky for nesting, but they liked older trees. They have other
problems, and the San Bernadino Mountains isn't known for its old growth
forest. *The California Spotted Owl numbers have been declining since
the early 1990s, but the concern is the logging in the Sierra Nevada,,,

Dead trees still are important to a forest's health..given they offer
things like for soil enrichment to shade for saplings. Anyway, My guess
is that the connection between ski areas was stopped because the ski
areas didn't own the land, and probably didn't wow the US Forest Service
with their proposal.

Soon after SS bought BM, the CEO was interviewed about plans for
interconnecting the two areas. He blamed the concern over the owls.
I'll see if I can dig up the article.

All it would take is 2 lifts, one up each way from the saddle between
the two trail networks. The bases are 2 miles apart by road and the
closest trail-trail point is a little over a mile.

I just love those Spotted Owls. With the right gravy they are
absolutely delicious. They taste a lot like Condor.

Vote for Palin-Brown in 2012. Repeal the nightmares.

If the damn things are that rare, just declare open season and solve the
problem. Or catch them and ship them to Arizona, where I understand the
California condors have been perfectly happy.

And then there's the sighting of a rare bird nest fragment by a
Federal specialist in rare bird in a pile of dirt left by a bulldozer,
which caused a long delay (perhaps permanent) in the rebuilding of
Highway 39, which has been closed for ~30 years.

I fear for 330 :-(
