Skiing in North America over Christmas - Do not want to go to
"Kurt Knisely" wrote in message ... Hey, I'll halfway agree w/ you. It ain't the Cottonwoods, but where else is? The skiing on average in PC is still better than most places in CO and I can ski out my back door, there are moose, elk, deer, foxes, coyotes, bobcats, mtn. lions, grouse, as well as mtn. biking, backpacking, etc. It's hard to comprehend that, eh? I sure do like it better here than commuting an hour in and out of Denver or Phoenix, even though I made better money there. It ain't cheap, but I have more red blood cells than the valley dwellers. That's good for you. Give it near 20 years. It's too late for you to go from knowing everyone to knowing almost no one. If it works for you, that's good. As far as the pc I knew from 1980? The valley wins. The little bit of smog once and awhile is more that made up for by the extra 4 mos. of green and relative warmth (for me). PC was a unique place 30 some years ago....the skiing was worth **** then, and it's worth **** now....but to make matters even worse, all the assholes from California started to move in. They've moved in everywhere. Are they all assholes? What about that guy in Temple Square the other day? Not much tolerance of other people's thoughts or right to free speech in this state, (I'm glad he was hit w/ $20,000 bond). Really! What do you suppose the reaction would be to someone that is offended my the missionaries and knocked them down and took their stuff? Would everyone stick up for him and pay his legal bills? It will snow someday and then we won't be discussing this crap... Utahrd specific At least not until the confiscate N. Temple, S. Temple and the next block to the south of Main St. to further solidify their empire. pigo |

Skiing in North America over Christmas - Do not want to go to
You're little commute from PC to LCC just happens to contribute to this "smoggy valley" effect. But the smog isn't in your back yard, so I guess it's OK. Personally, I don't want to live in an over-rated, over-developed, and over-priced tourist ski town where the skiing and snow sucks, nor do I like the idea of driving down a canyon, then up a canyon, then back down a canyon, and finally back up a canyon every ski day. PC was a unique place 30 some years ago....the skiing was worth **** then, and it's worth **** now....but to make matters even worse, all the assholes from California started to move in. -Astro --- maximum exposure f/2.8 http://www.xmission.com/~hound/astro/03-04/index.htm --- Give me a break! The times that I go to LLC from PC (with at least 2 others in the car) offers far less polution that you do driving around every day going to work, getting food/dinner, etc. You ought to rethink your comment. You also got to be kidding when you think that living amoung white-pasty freaks is better then the much more holistic, liberal minded people of Western Summit County. You don't have to live in PC proper. There are still wonderful towns around the area that are not developed like PC. Speaking of development, I'd much rather drive around my neighborhoods that have high quality housing and comercial areas with beautiful timbered construction than the crappy half- basement cinderblock duplexes that are all to common in the Happy Valley. Call me a snob, but I just like good stuff. As for skiing, yes LLC is much better, but jumping off from the Crest into BCC and Mill Creek are not bad either. Neither are the High Uintahs. Skiing in North America over Christmas - Do not want to go to
"lal_truckee" wrote in message ... We assholes from California had to put up with all the assholes from Iowa and NY and Mexico (and yes, also Utah - got a new Morman neighbor when I was a wee tot) moving in on us and ruining the ambiance - it's just your turn. How you like it? Boy! Aint that the truth. The San Fernando Valley was sparsley populated and very agricultural while I was growing up there. I think my grandfather was something like the 4th person to own a house in Burbank. The only REAL solution is reduced birthrate, to slightly below replacement to provide some slack in the system, so you Utahns might better focus on your own contribution to the problem and get those SLC breeders under better control... That's the only long term solution to almost every problem in civilized society today. It's also the least likely to penetrate the blank stares of the ones pooping them out here in Utah. |

I work at a company in PC where most of the employees commute TO PC (not a tourista related business, nor my prior job in PC). I have a 10 minute commute/40 min. bike ride. I'm closer to downtown SLC than many in the S. SL valley (get it? less pollution, less use of resources...). I don't go down there more than once every couple of months anyway (other than ski season, and that's 1 day/week on 215). Way too late probably, but what they really need is a train from the valley to Xxxx. A lot of my skiing is in Big Cottonwood or Lambs, and I begin my trek from the PC side. Any of you other Utards use the light rail to get into work? Call me a snob, but I just like good stuff. OH GOD! That's so funny I hardly know where to begin. Let's start with the "holistic, liberal minded people". That's a *great* reason to not be there. Before those phonies got there it was the common sense, real people that I liked. Now we have the issue of the "white-pasty freaks". My guess it that there are more tanned people down here that own skis or bikes or whatever that actually *use* them. As opposed to the ones up there that go to the tanning booth and use their equipment as props support their stories of what they *wish* they could do. It sure seems hipociriteical (do I have that right?) of a holistic, liberal minded person to be stereotyping and racialaly profiling an entire population as "white-pasty freaks". Are you racist against white people? Are there neighborhoods that you would describe as brown and greasy? And as a holistic, liberal minded person, you would rather see trees cut down and used whole (very inneficient) for your own selfish visuals? Cinder block is man made, environmentally friendly and much longer lasting. But my experience that those "holistic, liberal minded" folks are all for *other people* to make the sacrifices for the liberal policies that they spew. Thanks for not disappointing me and causing me to reaccess my opinion. And thanks for not explaining to me what was so venemous about my contention that pc is every bit as flat and grassy as vain. I didn't think you could. |

Before those phonies got there it was the common sense, real people that I liked. What, like the coke heads (CB included) that used to live there? My guess it that there are more tanned people down here that own skis or bikes or whatever that actually *use* them. Yeah right. Where can you ride in that smog-choked valley? Where can you get a tan in the smog? There are more real bikers up here than just about anywhere on a per capita basis. But how would you know, since your stuck in such a haze. Is that smog induced or otherwise? Cinder block is man made, environmentally friendly and much longer lasting. Hmmm, care to offer proof of that? Scientific evidence? What about the fosil fuels & below-living wage labor used to makes those cinder blocks? And thanks for not explaining to me what was so venemous about my contention that pc is every bit as flat and grassy as vain. I didn't think you could. Didn't argue against you on the grassy issue. Simply asked why you always feel the need to rip the place. Which you answered with the same old whiny 'not the same coke-filled place it used to be' ****. BoftheW |

Besides, if you haven't noticed, the Wasatch Front/SLC Metro, unlike P-****ty, actually produces something other than, for the most part, the tourist trade and marginal skiing. You ought to rethink your comment. You also got to be kidding when you think that living amoung white-pasty freaks is better then the much more holistic, liberal minded people of Western Summit County. Liberals. Exactly. Enough said. You don't have to live in PC proper. There are still wonderful towns around the area that are not developed like PC. No ****, dumbass...I used to live in Kamas, probably before you even knew that Utah is a state. Regardless, just wait a few years. At the current rate of destruction, it won't be long before the rest of Summit County is ruined too. Speaking of development, I'd much rather drive around my neighborhoods Why don't you walk, or ride a bicycle around your neighboorhood(s) instead of driving? Sounds like the typical PC resident...drive around in a big gas hog SUV with skis on the roof, just to be seen. that have high quality housing and comercial areas with beautiful timbered construction than the crappy half- basement cinderblock duplexes that are all to common in the Happy Valley. Call me a snob, but I just like good stuff. I like the good stuff too. But unlike you, I'm intelligent enough to understand that we need those duplexes also. It's called "the real world". As for skiing, yes LLC is much better, but jumping off from the Crest into BCC and Mill Creek are not bad either. Neither are the High Uintahs. For some funny reason, my instinct tells me that you don't do much jumping off of anything. BTW, dumbass, it's the "Uintas", not "Uintahs". Yea, I know, it's a technicality, but I doubt that you are actually jumping off of a bunch of high indians. -Astro --- maximum exposure f/2.8 http://www.xmission.com/~hound/astro/03-04/index.htm --- |

No ****, dumbass...I used to live in Kamas, probably before you even knew that Utah is a state. Oooh, a long time resident (even calls himself a 'local'). I'm sooo impressed. Thinks he has some vested right to everything here because 'I was here first'. Wow. Only problem is that I have been here as long as you. I just don't **** and moan that everyone else is encroaching on my turf. For some funny reason, my instinct tells me that you don't do much jumping off of anything. I'm not in a contest to prove anything to you. It's not an exclusive club that requires yours or anyone elses blessing. BTW, dumbass, it's the "Uintas", not "Uintahs". Yea, I know, it's a technicality, but I doubt that you are actually jumping off of a bunch of high indians. So I misspelled it, and you infer an awful lot. Maybe you should spend more time jumping into the backcountry instead of jumping to conclusions. -Astro --- maximum exposure f/2.8 http://www.xmission.com/~hound/astro/03-04/index.htm --- Just because you take pretty pictures dose not ensure you the right to judge others as 'insiders'. BTW: I'm done with this stupid thread. I'm done with discussing this same 'I'm better than you' argument. |

Again. I had nearly 20 years there. I got plenty of biking in. I got my first mtn. bike in 1980. I don't do that much of it anymore. Lot's of people do however. Same 'I've been here longer than you, so I'm better than you' argument that your buddt AstroPax makes. Cinder block is man made, environmentally friendly and much longer lasting. Cinder blocks are made in Mexico by near slave labor wages. They use curing ovens that belch smoke into the already choked environment, which causes great harm to the local population. I guess since its someone elses country and environment its all right. They are then trasported North on Diesel trucks. The amount of energy spent per ton cinderblock is far greater than logs. Not coke filled? Funny again. The place is full of people that talk the talk but can't walk the walk. If you like it, good for you. And like *you* said it's full of "holistic, liberal minded" people. Who, besides other dreamers, want's to be around people like that. But where was the "rip"? I guess you would know where to find them. I personnly don't know anyone like that. Maybe I'm hanging in the wrong crowd. You seem to have conveniently left out my concern about your stereotyping, racial profiling and racist remarks. Are you working on a response or hoping that it goes away? Here it is in case you forgot: You also got to be kidding when you think that living amoung white-pasty freaks is better Are you kidding? I thougth it was self explanitory: The oppresive Mormon influence in the SLC valley is just beyond belief. Ask any non-Mormon how they are discriminated by the non-secular government/establishment. I simply can not live in an area that does not tollerate more diverse thinking. The same goes for this 'insider/local' mentality that so many of you 'long timers' have. It's close minded and discriminatory. BoftheW BTW: As I said to AstroPax, I'm done this thread. No point in continuing a ****ing match. besides I've got to go and **** off some more 'locals' around here. |
