Wow, I'm not used to seeing this level of interest by our U.S. media in
nordic ski sports. And the collaboration with our National Science
Foundation seems encouraging, too. The videos seem to require
installation of Microsoft Silverlight video, but it was painless on my
PC with Vista (can't say what it might be like on other systems):

OK, granted, it's still pretty lightweight stuff from an enthusiast's
perspective, and I suppose it will be mainly enthusiasts who will bother
to seek it out and view it on the web. But if they air some of this
material during the Olympic coverage, it would be way more detail than
our mainstream audience usually gets. I don't watch much TV, so I'd
appreciate hearing whether anyone actually sees any of this on broadcast.

I was actually pretty impressed with the US TV coverage of the 2006
Olympic winter xc skiing. Think almost all of the events were covered
to some degree (still love viewing some of the HDTV coverage captured
from it). Lind was really impressive.

I have to say the US TV commentators were pretty useless (even
insulting / clueless at times). But I would assume good air time
coverage of xc skiing this year given the US and Canadian teams are
looking pretty strong early in the season, and it is in BC.
