The Steady Ski - any opinions?
Any reviews on The Steady Ski (Doug Garfield) from the group here? Is it
worth buying? Appreciate any input by those who have read it, or know of the various drills, etc. Thanks: Mike |

The Steady Ski - any opinions?
I've read it and I've been using it in my coaching this fall. Just did
a Masters clinic in Maine using its principles today. To be clear: There are two books. The original "The Steady Ski" and the just released "The New Steady Ski for Nordic Athletes". Both are good books, but the newer one has Doug's latest thinking and is more easily comprehended. I highly recommend this book. Doug really knows his stuff and does a superb job of making a complex subject easy to understand and simple to apply. (That's what I try to do in my day job as a technical trainer so I really appreciate this skill). I will ski faster this winter because of this book. Any higher praise than that? Rob and John:
Thanks for your responses. As an aside, this is absolutely one of the finest user groups on the web, in my opinion. A wealth of information, and impressive lack of "trolls". Can always count on informative, thoughtful replies to questions, and lots of good discussion. There are several other groups (some running groups in particular) that are filled with worthless (usually obscene) responses. I really appreciate the knowledgeable folks in this group. Thanks again. Who is the publisher of the New Steady Ski? I want to find the least
expensive way of purchasing it. --Matt "Mike Doyle" wrote in message ... Rob and John: Thanks for your responses. The Steady Ski - any opinions?
It is available from Akers Ski Inc (www.akers-ski.com) for $25. The front
cover says A Mountaineering Sports Science Report - don't know if that is the publisher or not. I did not find it listed on Amazon, and a general search didn't turn up any more information on publisher. $25 to ski faster seems pretty good to me! "Matt Morency" wrote in message om...
