Default Ski Go C242 Wax

I bought Ski Go C242 last season and saw on there web site the claim
that C242 is still unbeatable in certain conditions. Does anyone have
some experience when this stuff excels. I'm thinking perhaps because it
has some silicone in it that the snow must be clean. I read once
silicone attracts dirt. However, the C242 has some other teflon
additives which may repel dirt.

Is the Ski Go C242 the same stuff that was available in the late
80s/early 90s and pre-Cera F?

Ski*go C242 comes in three forms these days: non-fluoro, low fluoro and
high fluoro. The PTFE (calling this different than the perfluoronation)
was a key component in the 1980's version of C242 for it working so
well. And is still is a key part though adjusted with the LF and HF
versions. It continues to be excellent in warm conditions. Its target
temperature these days is -1 to +20C.

As to the original question, "when this stuff excels", the answer is
anytime above +0C. The racing wax table indicates the HF version
most of the time because this is what works best for racers at this
warmth and wetness. But if you have the LF or non-fluoro versions
these can be used as well for the same conditions. A copy of the
glide table on the web (in English) is at:

If you're not afraid of a little Swedish :-) you can read the Wax
tester (Vallatester) results for various races. Scroll through the page
to see where C242 appears with conditions listed. This is referenced
from the Skigo factory site (www.ski-go.com):
