Default Snowless no more! Twin Cities West Side is now the place to be!!!!!

a note from the the Three Rivers Park District:

The Elm Creek Winter Recreation is nearing the completion of Phase I which
includes a 2.5K lighted snowmaking XC skiing loop and is expected to open in
late November or early December.

Unreal!!!....2.5K or snow on real XC ski trails using a piping system....this
changes everything!...if we support this with our attendance and ski dollars
perhaps this will be just a start of more snowmaking on XC ski trails
here....Three Rivers does some of the best grooming in the Cities so this is
bound to be great.....I suggest all nordic skiers send an email letting them
know how much we appreciate this!..Awesome to know that I will be skiing on
real trails by early December at the latest and earlier with some colder
weather!!!!!!!!!

Great to hear that, even though I am not from that area. Hans Karlsen
who runs High Point XC in Northern Jersey could say a lot about how
uneasy the snowmaking process can be (like, you make a pile of snow in
the mid-December, and it starts raining with the temps in the 60s on
christmass, or... you make a pile of snow, but the trucks can't get it
on the trails 'cause it's too slippery... the piping system should
help greatly).

Don't forget the total of 2 1/2 kilometers at Trollhaugen now
northeast of Saint Paul. That's 5 kilometers of snowmaking for the
greater Twin Cities.

The word on the street is that the Birkie Office is looking into snowmaking
for the south end of the trail. The north end can get snowmaking from
Telemark Lodge.
