Default New Zealand with the USST/Subaru Factory Team

Hi Everyone,

We're working on getting this August's trip to New Zealand going and
so I'm trying to get the word out once again. This trip is a
fundraiser for the US Ski Team and will include coaching by Trond
Nystad (USST Head Coach), Pete Vordenberg (USST Assistant), and Nathan
Schultz (Subaru Factory Team) as well as lectures and presentations by
USST athletes and Chris Hall, USST wax technician.

Please spread the word, we need more people to make this a successful
fundraiser for USST.

August 9-22: New Zealand with the US Ski Team
---------------------------------------------
This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to be immersed in top-level
skiing in a truly incredible place. We'll be on winter snow for not
only 13 days of top-notch coaching from US Ski Team (USST) and Subaru
Factory Team skiers, but also full immersion in the skiing life and
race preparation of the US's top athletes. Daily on-snow sessions
will include extensive video analysis by SFT and USST athletes and
coaches, and will be complemented by evening seminars on topics
including training plans, technique, and waxing/ski prep. The trip
will end with USST and SFT staff prepping your skis and showing you
how to prepare for a race at the Merino Muster, New Zealand's biggest
marathon event.

The cost of the trip is $2099 and includes room & board, coaching, and
ground transportation. Airfare is not included.

*** We have several spots available for 1-week sessions for those that
cannot commit to the full two-week camp. The deadline for this trip
is rapidly approaching.

September 11-12: Boulder, Colorado Weekend Dryland Academy
---------------------------------------------------------
This two-day academy will provide detailed information on how to
develop a training plan around a busy life, video analysis by some of
the sport's best athletes as well as a great weekend of fun,
informative training and drills. An optional addition to the Academy
is physiology testing at the world-renowned Boulder Center for Sports
Medicine. Cost is $299.

September 25-26: Aspen, Colorado Weekend Dryland Academy
--------------------------------------------------------
This two-day academy will focus on technique development and lectures
designed to help participants develop a training plan around a busy
life, video analysis by some of the sport's best athletes as well as a
great weekend of fun, informative training and drills. The aspen
should be in full force and this is a great way to get in a fun,
informative, beautiful fall weekend in Colorado. Cost is $299.

November 25-28: Winter Park, Colorado Thanksgiving Camp
-------------------------------------------------------
Mark your calendar for the third edition of this 3-day Thanksgiving
Camp run by Denver University Coach Knut Nystad and Subaru Factory
Team skier Nathan Schultz. With top-level coaching and extensive
video analysis, this camp emphasizes technique development in a fun,
social setting with many lodging options right on the trails. We have
expanded our video capabilities this year to make analysis more
efficient and, as usual, we'll have great coaches with small groups.

Coaching Programs
-----------------
Subaru Factory Team athletes have a lot of experience reaching their
potential while balancing jobs, family and a social life. That is why
they make great coaches and can help you maximize the benefits of your
training while providing new insights into how to reach your
potential.

We now offer three coaching packages based on a detailed training plan
completely customized to your history, goals and schedule. The first
package is a 6- or 12-month training plan that creates a detailed
roadmap for what you need to accomplish each week for strength,
distance, intensity, and speed. This is a great way for a motivated,
knowledgeable athlete to gain insight and direction in their training
while designing their own daily workouts to fit into the plan. The
athlete can contact their coach at their convenience for a limited
number of follow-ups to monitor progress and adapt the plan to new
developments.

Our "complete coaching" package begins with the same training plan,
but adds completely customized daily workout planning based on your
schedule and goals as well as intensive interaction with your Subaru
Factory Team coach to ask questions and adjust your training as
needed. This is a great way to gain insight and maximize the
efficiency of your training.

We've added an intermediate package that includes a detailed 12-month
training plan plus three months of daily coaching. This is an
economical way to get a feel for exactly what you should be doing
during different times of the year. You can then use the ideas you've
learned to develop your own daily workouts until the next period of
training begins where you will once again receive intensive
interaction with your coach to guide you through the training.

Subaru Factory Team athletes are available for private technique
sessions and group clinics as well.

All proceeds from the Academy and Coaching Programs go directly to
Subaru Factory Team athletes to help fund them pursue their skiing
goals.

That's it for now. Have a great summer and we hope to see you out
there on the trails!

If New Zealand doesn't appeal to you, I will be in Falls Creek again
this year for the Hoppet. Join sknyski for useless coaching advice
and unsolicited opinions on pretty much any subject you want.

Cost = free (you provide travel and lodging).

As an added bonus, I will wax all camp participants' skis for free,
provided you don't mind my practicing flouro application on your
boards. I'm actually getting pretty good, having only gone through 3
p-tex candles last season.

I hope to ski in that part of the world next summer, and I just took a look
at the Hoppet Loppet site:

52km groomed at Falls Creek
After almost five weeks of regular snowfalls there is now an average snow
depth of just over 1 metre at Falls Creek.

The regular trail network at Falls Creek has been extended to include the
trail from Langfords to Wallace's Hut , and also the trail from 'the cattle
grid' down into Pretty Valley.

New Zealand is having their best winter in 10 years. At the Snow
Farm, they currently have all 55km open with 50cm packed on the
trails....
