Default Who's hurt worse in low-snow: XC or alpine?

That's my question!

I was thinking/hoping that in low-snow years (centuries) that XC might
come out on top. You might not want to travel far if snow is sketchy
but just grab'n'go in a local field. Or maybe XC requires less snow?
But then alpine seems better at small-location snowmaking. XC requires
more territory. JP

even if all of XC literally goes underground (tunnels) it won't come
out on top.

Consider doing XC on dry ice on Mars in 22nd century.
