Canadian ski by 5th wheel trailer home?

Is it a good idea to travel by 5th wheel trailer home? We're from the Netherlands, so we don't have much experiance traveling such a trailer home during winter. FWIW, I am not sure if you can rent a fifth wheel. It is a large trailer that requires a very large "hitch" to be attached to the bed of a pick up truck. Might be better to stick to a motor home. Also, I am not sure how well insulated these things are (5th wheels, trailer caravans, motorhomes). |

There are places to winter camp in Banff, but you had better be an excellent driver if you want to haul a 5th wheel on Hwy #1 in a snowstorm especially at night. The pass around Golden BC can be a challenge in winter. |

Canadian ski by 5th wheel trailer home?
Hi Jorrit,
In years past I used to camp in a VW Westfalia camper to ski at Whistler. Most Winter campers used motorhomes. If you have never Towed a 5th Wheel or even a Travel Trailer through the mountains in Winter, I would recommend against it. A motorhome with will give you fewer problems with sway in the wind and snow. I also recommend that you book campgrouds in well advance and make sure that they have good washroom facilities with showers. Good luck.
