Errm not Classic, of course.

The start was in heavy fresh very wet snow.

This was perfect conditions for Petter Northug:

The snow made it impossible for anyone to make a serious break from the
field, and over the last 5-7 km Petter slowly navigated his way from
position 25-30 to the front of the field, going into the final 18
percent uphill in second place, and replying to all breakaway attempts.

On the final stretch he won again, but not by a lot.

Södergren was extremely strong, as usual, he's just very unlucky that he
didn't compete 10-20 years agao, before all the sprints and mass start
events: He would have won the world cup several times by now.

The thick snow is reminiscent of the 50 at Obersdorf 2005, among other
places the Norwegians have won.

No NRK video yet of the women's race, which was apparently quite the
opposite - a long breakaway by Steira for the win.

Indeed, this was in some ways even more impressive.

No matter how they won, today has been a _very_ good day for Norway:

Last night Aksel Lund Svindal was back in the Beaver Creek downhill run,
where he fell and injured himself severely last year: He won his first
race after the operations.

This morning we've had Petter Northug and Kristin Størmer Steira on the
30 and 15 K mass starts, Emil Hegle Svendsen won the men's biathlon
sprint, Tora Berger was nr 2 in the women's class.

Magnus Moan won nordic combined, and finally Anders Jacobsen got third
in the big hill jumping in Trondheim. :-)

Besides the initial 30K I didn't watch any of it, because I've been out
skiing under perfect Hardangervidda conditions (about -7 to -9, fresh
tracks set between 05 and 06 this morning.)

If my DreamBox worked, I'll be able to review the events when I get back
home. :-)
