Default Looking like a wet weekend.....

Looking decidedly wet for friday nights' Gloucester-Dover-Chamonix drive,
but wet rather than white, and probably quite windy too :-(

Still, that means fresh stuff higher up the hill! (and quite a bit by sunday
night!)

It does indeed look rather miserable. We are driving from Lyon to Bourgey
on Friday night, then Saturday morning from Bourgey to Tignes. Cloud bases
look to be low too as it is a warm sector over the area so plenty of hill
fog to get through. Snow chains won't be needed until well above 1500m.
The cold front goes through Sunday morning which should bring very cold
temperatures (MS10degC at 1500m) with it and help preserve the overnight
powder....!

Pete,

It's changed already, just looked at the Meteo France site via the La
Rosiere one and the snow line is forecast lower now. Who knows what will
really happen, fickle mountain weather.

Meteo France have the freezing levels rising very quickly today with the
rain/snow limit reaching 2000m on Sunday afternoon, thereafter it gets
chilly with snow showers. I'm off to Tignes this afternoon, can't wait !
