Default Toko Pole Baskets

Have had a problem twice now with the new Toko poles. I have the C232
pole with the larger baskets and use them when the snow is soft. During
the last two snowfalls, when I use the poles the baskets clog up with
snow. This is wetter snow, not our Utah usual. When clogged, they
become ineffective and have to be whacked together to clear the basket.
I have never had this happen before, using Yoko (with the older black
baskets) and Exel, even in the wettest Sierra snow. Has anyone else
experienced this? Is changing to the P232 basket a solution? Any other
suggestions?

This happens with my Swix CT1 poles and it's very aggrivating. I haven't
come up with a solution. I'm thinking of rubbing and buffing some wax into
the surface of the plastic, but haven't tried it yet.

In the past, I've used Rain-X on pole baskets, and ski bindings to keep them from collecting sticky snow. Rain-X is intended for use on automobile windshields and is hydrophobic. You can usually find it in automotive stores.

I personally use the black Yoko powder baskets. Their shape just won't collect any snow at all.

Good Luck! -mark waechter
