I was quoted $25 for a minor tune and $50 for a major. That seem reasonable?

Well I get a full tune at a local shop for about $20. I think that includes
a wax, base clean or something, and edges sharpened. Uhh, I don't really
remember what else they do. I usually get a tune up once a year or so. I'm
not that great in the tuning feild though, so don't take my example as good,
heh.. Might want to wait for someone else to reply.

Sounds too much. Unless by "major" they mean grinding the base, it's too much.

I expect to pay $25 for a belt-sand, edge sharpening, and hot wax, and
about $45 for minor base repair, stone grind, edge sharpening, and hot
wax.

Try to get a recommendation on a particular shop from a dedicated skier
or boarder or three in your area. Tuning tools in the wrong hands can
really damage a board. I drive an hour, right past several other
shops, to go to the shop I trust to get work done on my boards.
