Ski insurance California
I will be in California later this month and hope to be able to fit in a
couple of days skiing. My business travel insurance doesn't cover skiing. Can I buy top-up insurance (accident, rescue, medical etc) at a resort on arrival - ie the equivalent of Carte Neige in Europe? Advice welcome. Ed |

Then you will be an illegal immigrant anl all your medical expenses will be covered by the government. |

Ed At the risk of making an on topic post, you don't need accident or rescue insurance in the states. Compliments of the resort and the taxpayer, though if you do something stupid and duck a boundary line, you might get stuck with a bill. Highly unlikely, though. Our culture differs from European in that every dumb**** who screws up in the backcountry thinks he has a right to be rescued free of charge, and any attempt to make these selfish idiots pay for their mistakes is met with resistance. Medical is a different matter, but I bet your travel insurance covers that. We simply have nothing that compares to a Carte Neige. I also recommend wearing Depends if you plan on running into me, seems to work well for the regulars here. |

If it's anything like UK insurance the medical is still an issue as medical bills incurred as a result of doing a hazardous activity would be specifically excluded. Sounds like the OP may be best off to get cover before setting for california - many UK companies (all?) won't let you take out a policy once trip has commenced. |
