Avalanche
Hi all,
Been some awful avalanches here in the Haute Tarentaise over the last few days. Rumours of another big one today up by the Chardonet Bowl in the Aiguille Percee sector that may have trapped a couple of riders. As always, pistehors.com is reporting on the developments. Maybe I'm overly careful, but I find it hard to believe the reports coming in after we had such a bad season last year, and given the well publicised condition of the snow at the moment - wind slabs on top of depth hoare. Things will slide. Don't do it. It's not worth the risk. Stay safe all, Matt |

Stay safe all, Matt www.alpineexperience.com/news.html I was skiing (on piste) over that way yesterday and it certainly was a huge slide - looked right down to base. The rumour at this end of town is that the three pisteurs were caught, two are now 'okay' and the third is still in hospital in Grenoble in a pretty serious condition. I then came back over to the Toviere side and, just below the summit as you come around the top section ot the Trolle piste, there was another pretty big slide that stopped just at the edge of the piste. About a dozen pisteurs were at the foot, in deep discussion, and it looked like they'd beeing digging something out - this all seen as I skied past, so I didn't stop to chat as the situation looked well under control and they didn't need anyone else for a probe line or anything. It looks like the whole mountain is tracked out already - crazy. Matt |

With the new year crowds on their way home and the sun in the sky, yesterday was particularly lovely. Matt |
