Actually, it's worse than that. The stats seem to show that the more
experience you have, the *more* likely you are to get avalanched.

Well the more experience you have, it also means the more incidences you
are exposed to acalanche situations. Experts will more likely venture
out of bounds, therefore the "risk" of getting caught in an avalanche is
much higher than non-experts who might try backcountry only here and there.
