I always carry mine (a leatherman) in my rucksack along with the
avalanche probe and shovel (and spare gloves, hat, goggles,
headtorch, sandwiches, drink etc)


What about your map, compass, para-cord, garden wire, spare snow
baskets, sewing kit and bivvy bag? Bloody amateurs ;-)


Those items are carried in addition when I'm using my touring sack, the
first list is from what I carry in my day sack.....

Also depending upon intended terrain to be covered there is also rope,
harness, ice-axe, ice-screws, sling(s), karrabiners, prussick loops,
Ropeman and/or Tibloc, and gps/altimeter.
