You can get a train from Salzburg to Zell am See, and there is a bus which
is included on the lift ticket that runs regularly to Kaprun.. I wouldn't
hire a car..

I have the option to go there for a weekend in a months time. I may well
hire a car at the airport rather than get a coach because the price is
similar (for two of us) and it will give me the freedom to go to Kaprun as
well if necessary for snow.

My question: Will I need snow chains (at a cost of about 40 euros)?
