Bert fell off a catwalk?
as Sp0ck says, "No Surprise"

fell? No, he careened, he flew wildly, he CRASHED off it! Straight into
some dead trees which tore bits off him. It took him a while to
re-appear, stagger slowly back onto the track, and get his skis back on.
He was bleeding like a stuck pig too (odd that).

Uncoordinated olde blusterer, maybe Scott uses him as a kind of sea
anchor?

I shudder to think what scott uses him for. It's plainly evident what
Bert uses Scott for!

Was there any kind of debris attached to Spock, slowing his wild
descent, back in the day?

It was 6 years ago, so it's kind of hard to remember. He'd gone off to
get some special race skis for this run, which goaded everyone into
sillier excesses of un-seriousness.
Luckily, he did not resort to a speed suit. Oh my stars.

Sigh. We were so bad.

Yup. You were so bad you lost the race to Scott in the gates. So crappy a
skier that a "fat old man" could beat you.

Didn't just beat her, Bert. Embarassed her. Thoroughly exposed her. She
sure was bad.
Hey, Bert?
Let's have a race tomorrow at Crystal. I'll embarass you (though you
certainly will be closer than Kerrison was) and then YOU can rip me off and
lie about me. Maybe through in some false police reports and perjury, too.
