Default Jay T's Big Saturday Workout - 50K Club Report 4-3,4-04

Rode 1.5h on the new bike on Saturday trying to get used to the TT
position. The NW wind really cuts into your speed heading into it. The
difference was something like 15-18 on the way out, 25-31 on the way
back. Lots o' fun...

Sunday was my first day of paddling for the year. The cool temps meant
dressing like a ski day, complete with gloves. We paddled from Anoka
Fairgrounds 2hr+ upstream on the Rum River, and then back down. Rode
20K fixed gear w/ my wife at Afton in the PM. Guiness and a burger hit
the spot.

It was a day typical of weekends around here lately. Sunshine, 40F
temps and a monster wind out of the northwest. Not wanting to fight
the wind again, I opted for the mountain bike and the local Bengel
Trail and Double Secret Probation Trail. Of course, I dressed for a
road ride for the listed temp. I was fine as I rode down to the trail.
Once I got into the woods, I started to roast as I was dressed way to
warm. Anyway, I enjoyed the singletrack and got in a good workout. By
the time I rode home, out of the woods, I was glad I had the warm
clothes on. The total time for the ride was 1 1/2 hours.

50K Club Report 4-4-04:
It was a cold morning with temps in the mid to high 30sF as I joined
Jerry Engen, Bill Stuber, John Wyland, John Schmidt, Jeff Arndt and
Mike (Reider?) for a road ride through the horse and hobby farm
country north and east of Saint Paul. Four of the guys rode mountain
bikes. I was one of the three who were on cyclocross bikes. We rode
north into a medium wind around Lake Jane, Lake Demontriville and then
on to the Gateway Trail. We took that northeast to County 15 where we
started the trip south back to Jerry's house. The tailwind on the ride
home was decent. The total time for the ride was 2 hours.
