I call this the Drive-Thru Theory of Economics.

When ordering at a fast-food drive-thru window, if you cannot understand the
attendant's language or accent, they don't know what's on the menu, they
mess up your order, and give you the wrong change, then the economy is in
good shape.

On the other hand, if the attendant sounds like a college English major,
makes suggestions on your order or reminds you of the daily specials,
delivers exactly what you ordered, remembers to ask if you want
sugar/ketchup/vinegar/tartar sauce, and asks whether you want your change in
dimes or nickels, the economy is in the tank.
