Hmm, not in my experience, which I must point out is limited to
snowshoeing uphill, often alongside a guide with skis & skins.


Yeah, I don't snowshoe too much myself, but it seems that going uphill would
be the only time that touring skis and snowshoes would be even remotely
comperable I don't see the point of it, but it sure has caught on- must be
SOMETHING to it.

You mean there are people out there who go snowshoeing
just to snowshoe? :-)
