Default In December some Norwegians go south

In December some Norwegians go south, no, not to Canary Islands-
further south!

Right now there are several teams of Norwegians skiing towards
the South pole. They are celebrating the 100th Anniversary
of Amundsen and team's arrival (Dec 14-17, 1911).

The one I have been following is the Norwegian Polar Institute
4 man team: Vegard Ulvang, Stein Aasheim, Jan-Gunnar Winther
and Harald Dag Jølle.

On Dec 12 they had about 80 km left to go. Altitude 2950 m , temp -30C,
snow often like "fish glue"

Amundsen's original book (translated into English in 1913) can
be found on the net in several places, including this:

A cute postcard I got in Norway:

(caricature of stereotypical Norwegians, that's the FRAM in the
background)
