Has Salomon abandoned the BC/randonee market? Neither Backcountry nor
Couloir mention Salomon skis in their review issues, and the Salomon
website only talks about freeriding. If so, too bad--the X-Mountain was
a great ski, and even the 1080 was pretty sweet. Now there are four
1080 models... I wish I hadn't given my X-Mountains to my son.

_ While a lot of people used those skis in the backcountry, I
don't think Salomon has ever been in the Randonne market.
The skis you mention where largely marketed for the regular
alpine crowd, but there have been many skis that have crossed
the rather artificial line between beefy Randonee and ungroomed
resort skiing.

_ BTW, has did you notice the Dynafit Randonne racing boot,
nearly indistinguishable from an XC skating boot.
