Friend of mine saved a few overlays in Google Earth which allows to see x-c
trails in 3D. He posted some of them at

Open the placemark, make sure "terrain" checkbox is checked and adjust the
"tilt" to your preferred viewing altitude. You can also go to tools -
options and increase the elevation exaggeration. Use the slider on the
bottom left to adjust the overlay transparency.

P.S. For those not familiar with Google Earth. It is a free program that
works only with Win2000, WinXP or MacOSX; you also need high-speed
internet...
