I bought a small and cheap water-resistant "sports" watch from Target
for about $7 years ago. For skiing, I tie it to the zipper pull on my
chest pocket. It's easily viewable without having to unzip anything.
I also wear it for bike rides at home. I've had it almost a decade and
it's still on its original battery.
