He can indeed do it in big mass start races, it is just that this season
he started sick, then never allowed enough time to recover properly.
This is pretty common pattern, particularly with young & eager racers,
right? :-(
Anyway, he'll be back in seasons to come, at least until that blistering
sprint capability starts to wear thin.
