Perhaps it would be more useful to also look and see how many potential
yes voters it has produced from people who participate in the sport who
don't participate in RSRE. Then ask why not. Personally I avoid most non
uk.* groups for a variety of reasons, although I do occasionally foray
out.

As virtually all potential UK-based posters have access to rsre via their
servers, and as the ng sees regular, informed traffic with a minimum of
'interference' from trolls, there is no obvious reason for non-participation
in rsre that makes much sense to me. Perhaps this minority, seasonal sport
does not generate sufficient interest for a more active forum.

A proposal for a forum equivalent to fr.rec.montagne (broader-based, all
mountain activities) might have more appeal.
