Can anyone recommend a European destination with good snow
still suitable for an intermediate level skier ?

Just back from Arc1950 and Samoëns/Grand Massif - both of which have

PLENTY
of snow (in fact, Les Arcs currently has more than I've seen in France for
many years).

We've just driven back from Chinaillon (Le Grand Bornand / Le Clusaz in the
Aravis) and there was stacks of the stuff, with enough fresh snow some
mornings to make it very pleasant, but it was getting very heavy by the end
of the week, and obviously its retention and condition will depend on the
weather this week (it was falling as rain up to about 1,800m when we left on
Saturday). If it gets colder again, the skiing higher up may be OK, and
it's only about an hour from Geneva. Reasonably priced lifts mean it's not
a disaster if there's the odd poor day. Chinaillon has plenty of
confidence-building blues and reds (I'm a 58-yr-old seven-weeker now, and
managed to get down most of them).

Don't take my word for it; check the webcams...

Definitely! And the Ski Club GB site, obviously.
