SEPAQ closed the attic two-three years ago (probably because it was
too cheap and a too good solution for the dedicated skier). Since
then, SEPAQ has built some more confortable (and expensive) camps
close to the Camp Mercier ski trails; reservations must be made
through the SEPAQ (seewww.sepaq.comas you know).
It's a shame that the whole culture and comraderie of cheaply crashing
in a ski dorm seems to be going away...
May I suggest you a more a slightly more interesting alternative:
Foret Montmorency (www.fm.ulaval.ca), about 15 km farther in the
Laurentides Reserve, with accomodation at "Le Pavillon" at an
affordable price (~75 $CDN including bedroom (without sheets, double
occupation) and 3 gorgeous meals), and the certainty to ski on snow
(natural or artificial).
Is "La Pavillon" the building that is actually a college dormitory
(i.e., very institutional in feel), or is this a new option?
It is THE ski site for starting skiing early in Eastern N. America.
The Quebec X-C Association (www.amsfski.com) is holding its annual
training camp on snow in Dec 8-12 this year (20th camp anniversary
Sounds like a possibility...
