Concept2 ski machine

I have used a Concept rower propped upright as a double-pole machine.
It is far from ideal (you get chain-grease on your nose if you don't
remember to keep your head to the side), but you can do it,...

FIS Interval Start custom

Some people used to like to start slightly late in order to fool
rivals' coaches taking splits - though I suspect that that no longer
works, with live 'official' data available through a wireless...

40 Ski Marathons?

Are you allowed to count the same race 23 times? That's a lot of
marathons, either way.
I have done 21 in seven seasons (if I can count the 3-day Arctic
Circle Race as 3 marathons, and the abominable...

'Non-circular route' - if you have to carry everything that goes on
the aeroplane then you obviously have to make compromise decisions,
such as wearing your ski clothes and boots on the plane vs...

Fans' Skiing Commentary and Analysis

The cyclismag.com articles referred to calculate power using an
assumption that all the riders weigh the same 70kg (154lb), plus 8kg
for their bikes, so if a rider is lighter than this, his power...

Classic Sprint - skate skis & classic poles

What about the skate skis?
I always understood that classic skis, waxed only for glide, were
supposed to have better flat (unedged) gliding characteristics than
skate skis - though of course without...

Can bladder-packs with sippy-tubes be kept unfrozen?

I too have had both success and miserable failure in very cold
conditions with a Camelback and the insulated hose, starting with hot
liquid. I put it under a layer of clothing if that is practical....

Skiing near Venice

Toblach/Dobbiaco has a huge amount of skiing and a wide choice of
villages to stay in. I have no idea how its early snow is. Some of the
villages and tracks are quite a bit higher than Toblach...

Chariot baby carrier

Thanks for these.
Perhaps 20lb of backpack will help flatten my too-stiff classic skis;
or perhaps the Chariot will expedite my conversion to ski-walking.
Another trip to REI is needed.

Kris Freeman: training hard

http://www.krisfreeman.net/2007/09/04/92-hours-in-20-days/

this, but reading about it makes me wonder a couple of things:
1. I was...

What are your favorite classic roller skis and why?

I love my Skett Nords. They run straight and predictably, handle well
enough on descents, and are light. I got them from nordicskater.com
and asked for the slowest possible. I mostly ski on good...

Roller skiing protective gear

The important thing with roller-skiing (assuming you are doing it to
improve your skiing) is to be able to roller-ski with good technique.
You cannot do that if you are scared of hurting yourself,...

Roller Skiing, and Link to Every Currently Made Roller Ski ?

Here is another: www.dms-skiroller.de - they had, and perhaps still
have, the contract with the German ski fed to supply roller-skis for
their summer championships. When I did these in 2001, when I...

conclusion is that the most important aspect is not the gadget itself

OT - PAL European VHS conversion to US VHS

my mother).
2. Get them to copy the VHS to DVD. This will not play in a US DVD
player...

Overtaking slower skier in race

Interesting question.
The only exceptions specified in the FIS rule are sprint races and
'marked zones', so the simple answer is that the rule applies in all
FIS races. The rule is absolute and does...
