Travel tips for trip to Banff/Lake Louise/Canmore ???

Am planning a ski advneture in December in the Banff/Lake Louise/
Canmore area and have a few questions as I'm on a slim travel budget
and need some pointers on places to stay and getting around.

So basically i'm looking for suggestions on cheap accommodations in
these areas (such as b&b's or hostels etc) and would like to know if
there are shuttle buses (or the like) to get around to the various
trails and if there is an airport shuttle from Calgary to any of these
areas. Also interested in hearing about any good ski trails in the
areas that you can recommend. Its the first time out skiing in this
area for me so any info/advice would be appreciated.

Many thanks,
Cal

I reckon you'll be better off in Banff than Canmore, as there's more
happening and cheaper lodgings available. Almost certainly there's a
shuttle of some kind from Calgary to Banff - I recall seeing flyers about
them, but didn't pay attention.

Another option is to blag a lift with the foreign tour operators that will
be running a coach. Sometimes a back hander to the rep is required, but
it's not guaranteed to work.

The hotels run shuttles to the hills, so the hostels might for a price.
There'll be something for sure, even if it's a local bus service. Banff
seems to thrive on people doing just what you're doing. I don't see you
having any problems at all.

Hopefully one of the locals will be along shortly to give some definitive
advice. Otherwise it's over to google for you! :-)

A good, cheap hotel in Banff is the Voyager Inn, and they run shuttles
to the hill. Another cheap one is Bumper's Inn. There's also a hostel,
but you're on your own for transpo.

There's tons of shuttle companies, just google calgary banff shuttle or
something like that. They're not exactly cheap as I recall, $50+ one
way. They go from Calgary to Banff but not directly to the hills.
