I saw these kite boarders on the coast here near Santa Cruz.
What they do is amazing.

I can't help but notice the trend in all sports though:
the use-to be anaerobic sports are fast becoming sports
that use the force of nature - wind, waves or gravity.

Sprint kayaking is replaced by surfing, kayak surfing, whitewater, kite surfing,
windsurfing and alike.

XC-skiing - downhill, telemark, snowboard, kite board.

Road cycling - mountain biking (originated as strictly downhill), downhill, BMX.

Skating - skateboard, aggressive skating, downhill speed skating, luge,
downhill skateboard.
