Lake Tahoe area in April

A couple of my mates are planning a combined snowboarding/wedding trip
to the states. They're currently looking at heading to the lake Tahoe
area in early April. What sort of boarding can we expect at that time
of year?

Cheers.
Iain.

It really varies, anywhere from OK to incredible. Base depths are
usually at or near their peak for the season, as it's usually still
snowing at that time of the year. You'll get some spring days, some
powder days, some sunny days, some rain, a little of everything. The
best part is the crowds are usually pretty thin by that time.

In a heavy snow year all the resorts can still be good at that time. In
a low snow year, I recommend sticking to Kirkwood and Alpine Meadows...
in a normal snow year, add Squaw Valley to the list.

It's been 4 years since I've done Tahoe, but the 4 season before that I
did a ton of spring riding.

If you do Squaw, and Silverado is still open, take a few runs for me!

like he said, a little bit of everything and its all fun! April is my
favorite month outside of the big winter powder days...warm weather, soft
snow to throw around, bands outside, beer flowing....ahhhh.....

Thanks guys. Sound's the same as the high French resorts at that
time of year but I wasn't sure.

Cheers.
Iain.
