Try telemarktips.com, web sites have sucked a lot of the content out
of newsgroups.

This group wakes up from time to time but it does seem particularly
dead this season. If you post a question on conditions someplace or
gear issues you will probably get some replies.

Or you could just post that alpine touring is superior to telemarking,
that's always good for entertainment.

Here in Northern BC (and the rest of BC from what I've heard), we've
been having our best season of the last several years. Our snow depth is
easily a couple of feet.

I just started watching this group. We have a ton of snow (Colorado). Not
a back country skier yet, but I am thinking about starting. Mostly out of
bounds alpine.

I haven't been up to ski yet this year but we've got good snowpack in
California, we didn't before this last set of storms. The Pacific
Northwest seems to be having a banner year, Mt Hood has 7 to 8 feet,
Bachelor in the same range. So the West is looking good right now, as
far as I can see. The Rockies got dumped on over the past couple of
weeks.

Googling around I see the Alps has no - or marginal - skiing yet. I
hope they get snow sometime soon.

Hell - around N Tahoe we've got 3-5 feet at medium altitude - it's
insufficient - rocks and down trees aren't covered, couloirs aren't
filled in, cliff bands are stark; we're used to 8-12 feet by now, so we
complain and fart around.

You just need to be a bit more creative in what you're doing... Close to
2 months ago I was out with a friend doing some creek skiing. It's more
about getting out and exploring than trying to find something to ski down.

Just getting started.
I haven't been up to ski yet this year but we've got good snowpack in

Say what?
First it was thin. It rained and drizzled my first day skiing (I didn't
bother venturing off the packed track: new skis) so I went in, took a
friend to late lunch went to see a film in Reno. Resorts weren't much
better on coverage (off piste was rock ski territory).
Slide-Rose was closed (1/2 of Rose wasn't worth the ticket).
KT was a joke. Alpine was windy (a lot of the new fallen snow just got
blown off). We'll see about the next storm.
