Snowboarder Named Top Colorado Ski Patroller
Was checking http://www.firsttracksonline.com/welcome2.htm and came
across this: Snowboarder Named Top Colorado Ski Patroller Steamboat Springs, CO (Thursday, July 6, 2006) - Dean "Cody" St. John was honored by Colorado Ski Country USA as it named the first snowboarder ever as "2005-2006 Colorado Ski Patroller of the Year" at its annual meeting in Steamboat Springs last month. A member of the Steamboat Springs National Ski Patrol for the past three years, St. John, 28, was cited for exuding an unparallel commitment to keeping the slopes safe, setting the highest standards and doing so on a snowboard, breaking the common stereotype of snowboarders. Despite his short tenure, St. John received the most nominations from his fellow patrollers who average 16 years of experience each. Steamboat patrol director John Kohnke said "I've patrolled for 26 years and I'd rank him in the top 5% I've ever seen or worked with. He's polite, very capable, has all the skills and is incredibly mature." The Colorado Ski Country USA judging committee must have agreed, voting St. John as the first snowboard patroller to win the award. St. John was Steamboat's first snowboard-only patroller and only the third Steamboat patroller to win the prestigious award. -- |
