fractured wrist snowboarding

i bought a new the battalion jam snowboard which was great on the
first day of boarding in switzerland. On my second day i was tired
and
my first run fell backwards and fractured my wrist. the good news is
it was very mild and should take four weeks to heal. the swiss doc
charged me 700 swiss francs, or 450 pound or 55,000 yen. i paid in
pounds. just for a cast thing and x-rays.

anyone fractured their wrist any advice? i wanted to go on a beach
vacation on feb 24th. hope this sorts itself out.

maybe i should get my board de-tuned.

I did, many years ago, in exactly the same manner. Took 6 weeks before
the cast came off, but on the 5th week I went snowboarding. Figured it
was stronger with the cast on than the following week with the cast off.
Doctor wasn't too happy, but he didn't say I should not go.

The only thing with a beach holiday is that you need to keep the cast
clean and dry. Sand and sea don't exactly help in that regard.

You slid backwards right? So that's not going to help. De-turning the
board may help to prevent you catching an edge and falling forwards.
Sliding out backwards is down to not having enough grip.

1) Get the board tuned and ensure the edges are super sharp.
2) Improve your technique such that the edge is evenly loaded.

It's possible to ride on near ice with good edges and good technique.
