Anybody have any experience with homemade snow makers?
I ripped up my fish ponds cut a path through the bamboo and I want to
make a sled trail.
Any suggestions?

When I was younger, I waited one winter for a huge snowstorm...soon
enough it came. A 23" dump on top of an initial 0.5 to 1.0 inches of
sleet. It was perfect. With a variety of shovels I carved out a
meticulous little luge-type of thingee, complete with a rockin' jump
at the end...about 300' long descending down a hill. Every night, for
two weeks straight I would fill up the tank, and set it in our garage
to get as cold as possible without freezing. Then I woke up at dawn
the next morning and coated the base and sidewalls with water until it
iced up really thick.

Then I busted out the old rusty rail sled and had the best time ever.

I have a friend in Nashville who has one to make a sledding hill for his
kids. Before he started using pond water, he used City water and ran up
a water bill of roughly a brazillion dollars.

I'm trying to remember the good and bad of it... If you are serious
about this, I can check in with him ask him so you can avoid mistakes
and pitfalls.

Sleds actually work much better on ice than snow. And by ice, I mean
*ice* - clear enough to see a fish through it ice.

I'd probably just spray it with a hose and wait for it to freeze. But
if you want to build a homemade snowmaker, you're in luck because the
difficult part about snowmaking is how to make it light and fluffy like
the real stuff and you don't have to for this application.

I have air compressor looking for second power washer used have
heli-arc welder to make stands and brackets, and access to machine shop
if I need to do accurate machining.
been printing plans and looking at nozzle information.
