Palm side exit point for pole length measure

Different manufacturer measures pole length differently (we all know
that). Worse, xc guru mentioned about pole length to body parts but
don't say about the pole measuring point. Then I read on RSN that 2cm
matters. After giving some thought about these I conclude that it is
best to standardize pole length to the strap exit point on the palm
side. Why? Because it is the point where the strap really begins
applying force to the pole. 1) The contact length inside the grip
doesn't matter. You could have miles of contact to the top exit, I
don't care. 2) The top portion of the grip should not matter. You
could decorate it with your favorite decal to any length, I don't
care.

Why this pole length revisit? I drove up to Silver Star to ski (good
snow by the way). Guess what? I bought Fischer RCS Classic Plus, Exel
T-Body Skate skis, Salomon Pro Combi boots, Exel C3 cut to my
specification (below), Exel C2 uncut. Ooch! Need to work overtime this
summer.

I got the shop to cut Exel C2 to the top of my shoulder side bone
(length measured at strap palm side exit). May be too long? What do
you guys think?

Also any comments on Exel skis? They are new stuff?

Better to start too long than too short. Try it out for awhile, go take
a lesson with a very experienced coach and pose the question. If you're
in the States but close enough for Silver Star, Steve Hindman might be
the one. He's the one with regular technique articles in Cross Country
Skier and is located somewhere in Washington.
