Bode Miller has been entered in the slalom, trying to become the first to
win gold at the Worlds in all disciplines. But has anyone else even qualified to attempt to do this? |

By qualified, are you asking if there will be (have been) any other skiers that will be competing (have competed) in all 5 events at the Worlds? -- Marty |

Of course. there are two people (Bode is NOT one of them) who have scored world cup points in all five disciplines this season - Axel Lund Svindal and Benni Raich. Svindal is in the top 30 (even the top 20) in all five, while Raich is in the top 30 in 4, but 35th in DH. Miller has no points in SL or Combined. -- Alex Heney, Global Villager Woman's mind is cleaner than man's; it changes more often To reply by email, my address is alexATheneyDOTplusDOTcom |

Err, sorry, I should have been clearer, I meant "Gold at the World
Championships" vice World Cup. Bode was just named to race at the World Championship Slalom at Are, Sweden., this weekend. http://www.fis-ski.com/ "Alex Heney" wrote in message ... I would think anybody who has scored points in all disciplines is "qualified" to enter all of them at the world championships. Although most countries entering will have enough skiers that they don't *need* to enter any one in all events :-) -- Alex Heney, Global Villager I wish life had a scroll-back buffer..... Of course we Brits don't have more than two skiers with points in any discipline :-( That reminds me. I'm still ****ed about Baxter getting his Olympic Bronze taken away. He was robbed! -- Marty |

Bode might not compete in all five (he's thinking of bagging the DH), but he could still become an all-event worlds gold medalist. |

Not entirely. The team has some discretion to name competitors (not sure about the fine print on that). Also, I'm pretty sure that whoeveritis is talking about World Cup points, not FIS points. Bode does have FIS points in slalom. I would think anybody who has scored points in all disciplines is "qualified" to enter all of them at the world championships. The fine print is at www.fis-ski.com. Although most countries entering will have enough skiers that they don't *need* to enter any one in all events :-) None of them *need* to. Some (US, Sweden for example) have some who can perform in all five events; others (Austria for example) don't. |
