Getting tired of Scotty's rants on the other site, but not seeing much
skiing info here so hope everyone is out on the slopes.

I just got back from the second of two consecutive long weekends up
north - yesterday made it 9 out of past 12 days on skis. It's almost
like being one of those retired geezers. And the truly amazing thing
was that 5 of the 9 days were sunny blue skies - highly unusual for the
lake effect area.

Hope everyone else is getting in their allotment of turns. Remember you
only get about 80 trips around the sun, don't let this one go to waste.

Only got 18 days in February - don't know how I wasted the other 10.
The apres ski brews were uniformly excellent.

Indeed it is but I think this is his flight day.

Also, hooking up with you will be very much an
"if I feel like it" situation. Have fun with your
new stuff.

We had a three foot dump of Cascade Concrete here
in New England. Last week Thursday was interesting
to say the least. A little fluff on the goo. High
winds, drifts blocking lifts, whole lots of things
making life in the mountains difficult.

Worked out and skied out by the weekend. Best
features were lots and lots of big soft bumps
which skied beautifully. The other plus is that
all man-made snow is now covered with the real
stuff resulting in almost no ice (also called
boiler plate around here). There is a little
powder (actually loose snow) left in the woods
but it isn't very pleasant. Trails that haven't
been open or at least worthwhile are now open
and GOOD. We skied Devil's Fiddle at Killington
Tuesday and had a great time. I also understand
that Ovation headwall is in fine shape but
didn't get over there.

Pico yesterday was particularly fun and almost
totally uninhabited. What are people thinking?

I've gone to LA for the weekend. Mundane life interferes with skiing
again; something must be done.

I don't remember either... we spent a fair amount of time skiing with
one other guy who's name escapes me. As I recall, you stole his jacket
at lunch if that's any help. You took his radio along with the jacket,
and since you still had your own radio it made for some horrendeous
feedback in the gondola whenever you tried to talk on it.

The season is winding down here - all the snow's gone from the driveway,
and the XC season seems to be over. My hill still has 5 or 6 feet of
base, so they'll be good for another month. This Saturday we start
sailing, although I'm torn between going skiing on getting the out in a
boat.

Yeah, Walt, that's the guy. I did steal john's
jacket when you were here. Funny bit.

As of Monday we were expecting rain ^H^H liquid
snow for the weekend. Each day the weather report
got better. As of today we are expecting a bit
of snow and maybe a little rain over night Saturday,
not enough to spoil anything.

I'm working at Pico on Saturday which will probably
be overcast but the conditions are currently great.
I'll be a K on Sunday which means, in case the
weather report is wrong, I can ride a gondola and
hide in a First Aid hut for most of the day.

Killington is only reporting a 42" base depth, but
that is at the reporting stake near the top of
the mountain. Where snowmaking has been extensive
(Superstar) that is much more and the 42" is on
top and is all natural so it doesn't glaze up over
a day's use. The warm weather helps too.
