cheap tuneup tools
My waxing kit is a mix of actual ski-shop grade tools and stuff from other places like Wal-Mart, hardware stores, etc. One thing I don't have (and probably don't really need) is a rilling tool. I have thought about using a hacksaw blade. They come in different pitches (i.e. number of teeth per inch) and are cheap. I realize this would cut the structure into the base rather than pressing it in like a regular riller does.
Anyone ever try this? Good idea? Terrible idea? BTW, our local nordic trail system is fully open and has been for at least a week or two. The alpine area is still under partial opening and shortened hours and the snow there is mostly man-made. Ha ha! Dan |

Ha ha! Dan www.tognar.com has a whole bunch of ski tools for very good prices. They had a low cost brass riller bar, but I don't see it on their site now, but I read someplace that a fairly coarse file can be used to drag and press grooves into a ski Might be too square and sharp though). Your want to press the structure in, not cut and raise a lot of hairs. A nice info page is at; http://www.tognar.com/base_structure...snowboard.html |
